Apple MacBook Air MD224LL/A 11.6-Inch Discounts

William G. Fuller "WGF1811" (Herrin, IL) :
I ordered the MacBook after having to return the Asus Zen Book. At first I was reluctant because of the price premium over the Asus but I am very pleased with it. Amazon lowered the price of the MacBook by $100 not too long after I returned the Asus. I felt that I received a very good deal.

J. Bailey (Iowa) :
I have the previous version of this computer, a 128Gb drive, 2gb ram. I've had it over a year and a half, which is a miracle for me. I have had many many different laptops, and this is the only one I don't want to replace. I recently tried a Lenovo Yoga, thought maybe I'd give up the Air and go with Win8 touchscreen, but I returned it. Instead I installed Windows 8 on my MacBook Air, and now I use it as my work machine, fantastic for travelling. Even at over a year and half old, I still get at least 4 hours on the battery, whether running Windows or OSX. Just a week ago I watched a full 3 hour movie (using Windows) on a flight, and still had battery left. Its fast, light and the perfect size for me. I bought an iPad once, thinking I'd use it, but the MacBook Air is just so light and convenient I never use the iPad. I prefer Windows operating system over OSX, but I love the MacBook Air hardware. Its the best of both worlds for me to have the Air with Windows 8. I highly recommend the MacBook Air and would buy another in a heartbeat, if this one ever dies!!

Jason Brunsell (Houston, TX) :
I abandoned my work laptop for travel and use this MacBook Air + Dropbox to make my bag ultra-light. I recommend picking up a USB 3.0 flash drive and drop your media files on it to keep your iTunes folder on. That leaves plenty of space for apps, games, whatever!

Christophe (CA, USA) :
This is a wonderful product, well designed and very light. Unfortunately, the Wifi is not reliable. I have many other Apple products connecting to my home network with no problems, but this MacBook Air just can't keep a reliable connection. The connection slows down to a crawl every few minutes, sometimes it drops.
On Apple users forums, I discovered hundreds of other people had the same problem (google for 'Macbook Air Wifi problems'.) Some hoped that an upgrade to Mountain Lion would fix the problem, but this is not the case.

William Cannon (Lake Charles, LA USA) :
I wanted to purchase an Ultrabook (i.e., the PC version of the Air), but it seemed they all had either extreme flaws or annoying quirks. I have had an iPhone for years, as well as an iPad, but this is my first experience of any sort with an Apple straight computer after using solely PCs for about 20 years. It took about 20 minutes to get accustomed to the various gestures necessary to operate the Air quickly. It is truly an intuitive device, it's ultra-lightweight, and MS Office for Mac works great. The image quality is also outstanding --- a 13" screen with 1440 x 900 is crisp and clear. The Retina display certainly looks amazing, but I can't think of a good reason to pay the huge premium, unless you do computer graphics for a living (I'm a lawyer). I recommend the Air, even to professionals/business-oriented users.

Ekaterina Puffini (Islas Malvinas) :
I needed a new Mac Airbook. I went to the student bookstore. With the educational discount, it ended up being $100 more expensive than ordering it on amazon. Hard to figure. Arrived safely and I am typing this review on it. The airbook has a few features I don't particularly like - programs that I had for free and which worked fine to do graphics editing on the old powerbook (system 10.5) don't work any more. Apple is like that sometimes. But overall, I am very happy with it.

John (ISSAQUAH, WA, United States) :
The correct base price for this model is $1499, not $1699 as stated at the top of the page, so you're really only saving about $100 by buying it from Amazon. Not $300.

Neanderthal (Sao Paulo, BRAZIL) :
Nice upgrade from my 5 year old black macbook. Much faster login and uploading than the older unit. Love the Retina display for sharper viewing of my photos. I use this laptop a lot for digital photography and like the fact that it has an SD card reader built in, also I like the backlit keyboard which I did not have before. Also like the fact that it has a solid state hard drive. Not so sure about apple ditching the CD drive but so far I haven't missed it too much. I am very happy with my purchase so far.

Anne Cohen "Dramatic Soprano" (NYC) :
I have had a Macbook 1181A since 2009. Worked fine, still works ok but slower and I wanted something faster with a better screen resolution. This fit the bill perfectly. Love it! If you're undecided between this and the previous version without the Retina screen, I highly recommend this version. It's worth the extra few hundred bucks to me.

T. J. Perkins (Tucson, AZ) :
First off, I am techno-impaired and won't be dazzling folks with tech-speak. What I will say is that the size is perfect. In fact, I bought a 13" Macbook Air and exchanged it for this. The size is perfect. Picture clarity and colors are incredible. It is so easy to carry and so light. The battery life is unbelievable. I got eight hours the first time I used it. Finally, best of all, it is lightning fast. I sold my MacBook Pro, just a year old, to my son, so it's not like I had a dinosaur. But, there is virtually no time difference when I click on a link. (Except when I'm in a motel, like now, where everything is in slow motion). FYI, the keyboard screen and the palm guard are exceptional.

Bnunn08 (Oregon) :
I LOVE MY COMPUTER!! I saved $50 ordering it from Amazon, even though it was brand new and still comes with all the perks that buying through Apple does. The computer is super fast, ultra responsive, and while I though that 128GB wouldn't be enough, the innovative flash storage proved me wrong. I love the size, I have a 13.3" pro and it's MASSIVE compared to my air. It's just super convenient.

Miller5671 (Fredericktown, OH, USA) :
I am thrilled with my Apple MacBook Air. It is so fast and the applications are up-to-date and current. I "graduated" from a consul and am very happy with this space-efficient computer. I was going to keep my old key-board since I was so used to the "feel" of it, but my fingers just fly over the new Air's keyboard. It seems so natural. It took me some time to adjust to some of the new names for the applications, e.g. Contacts instead of Address Book, but now they all make sense. I especially like the ability to "text" via the Mac Air Messages as I don't have that feature on my cell phone. And last, but not least, this light-weight version is easier to carry and makes it less likely to be mishandled or dropped. It truly is the latest and greatest!

Henry (Phoenix, AZ) :
I like this new Model of MacBook Pro. The design of appearance is perfect, and the display is really amazing. I have used it for 1 month, and it works very well in all the functions, but I feel the life of battery is a little bit shorter than what I expected. If you watch a video or other flash stuffs with the Retina display all the time, it will only run for 3 hours. However, if you just do some writing stuff or surf online, it will last for more than 5 hours. Basically, it is a wonderful product~

Betty Jo "Booky" (Sacramento CA) :
Before buying this, I bought a computer with Windows 8. That did not go well. After 3 days of headaches and high blood pressure from trying to use Windows 8, I realized it was unusable and returned it. That's when I decided for the first time to try Apple, and I am extremely happy with this machine! First of all, thanks to the retina display, I have no more eyestrain. On Windows computers, my eyes couldn't last more than twenty minutes. I have been on this MBP for a couple hours now, and have no eyestrain whatsoever. Also, the MBP is user friendly and just plain easy to use. I have been working with computers for about twenty years now, and this is the absolute best machine I have ever used.

Ahmad Mahdi (Charlotte, NC United States) :
If I tell you this is amazing I will be lying. This MacBook is my dream computer. Design is great, no noise, beautiful retina display, super fast, and other features. I switched from windows to Mac and then back to windows, and finally I decided to stick with Mac as it becoming more compatible with everything. With this guy you can not go wrong.
Initially I thought 250 GB of storage is not enough and then after using this space I figure out it's better to have external hard drive rather than spending more money on internal hard drive (bigger), as you will get EHDD by the end of the day. All what I can say now thanks Apple.

Neftali Palma (Mississippi , USA) :
The retina display is amazing as far as doing everyday tasks with so much detail to each application. I started out with the 15inch cMBP w/ i7 Core and 8GB RAM and 750 GB HDD with nVidia discrete graphics card. I took it back the week after because 1. 15inch is getting less exposure for day-to-day tasks such as: browsing, editing, and recording. 2. The larger screen with all the bells did not look as well as the retina 3. Retina is getting to be where the future is. I thought I needed the 15 or 13 with optical drive now that I have used my 13 I realize I do not use it as much as I thought I would. I love this Notebook it is so portable yet very powerful and can handle multiple tasks that are more typical of your average laptop user.

Bearwife (Seattle, WA USA) :
What a beautiful, beautifully made machine. The display is stunning. It is lightning fast. The operating system is a dream. I love working on it more than any other computer I currently own or have owned in the past. It is also lightweight and elegant looking. As far as I'm concerned, this is the ultimate laptop.

Charles G. Duffy (Houston, TX) :
I love this laptop! It has quickly become my constant companion. It is so much faster and so much lighter in weight than the three year old MacBook Pro that it replaced. Surprisingly, I do not miss the optical SuperDrive. I would recommend this Laptop with Retina Display without hesitation or equivocation!

Sinclairvoyant (Austin, TX) :
I just want to issue a warning to people who purchase this product trying to save a bit over Apple prices. I paid for a new laptop, but was sent a used one. I received this item in the original box that had been resealed. While it appeared to be a new item, once I booted it up, it was already set up with an account of another user. I couldn't have used it even if I wanted to. I returned the laptop to Amazon and received a refund, however had it been properly wiped of information, I would have been sold a used machine and never have even known. I'm sure this is not an isolated incident, so buyer beware.

Pamela Sheppard (Abington, MA) :
I bought this laptop last month and when I first received it there were updates to install. Two of the updates will not install because the computer is not recognizing me as the owner for those two applications (iPhoto and iMovie). I brought it to an Apple Store and they told me that there was a previous owner and the computer wasn't properly deleted and restored. I was given the option of having them wipe out everything on my computer to restore it as new or they'd have to keep sending me codes to maually update the applications. Not what I expected when I purchased this computer, especially for the amount of money I spent.

James M. Mcfillen "book falcon" (Bowling Green, OH) :
You just cannot beat the functionality of an Apple device. They don't just look good; they deliver excellent performance. Yes, Mac laptops are more expensive than the competitors' products. I work with Windows-based machines (including Windows XT, 7 and 8) at work, and I believe they simply do not match the performance of Mac laptops. When you add the ability to synchronize all of your Apple devices through iCloud and iTunes, there simply is no comparison with a MacBook Pro.

Skacoolio (Califonia,USA) :
I have owned this MacBook Air since the day it had came out and to my surprise....it was just not powerful enough! Simple tasks such as copying files to the SSD would take 15 minutes on a 10gb file. That is clearly unacceptable. It does have great battery life though and an okay screen. It looks elegant and sleek. I just wish it would push my files and around faster. I think I am going to just stick with my Samsung Series 9 15 inch ultrabook because that is VERY fast compared to this. The Samsung with a 1.9ghz i7 compared to Apple's 1.7ghz i7 for some reason is so much faster. I would not really recommend this unless you are an extremely basic user. Well back to Apple it goes =/

William (Fort Myers, Florida United States) :
As a windows user, I kept hearing how great Apple computers are. Since I needed a laptop I thought I would try one.
The 11' Air is beautiful and the battery lasts 9+ hours and charges up quickly.
No complaints about the Air. The learning curve for the operating system however, is huge. In fact, I think the windows operating system isn't so bad after all

Airborne ranger (Minnesota, USA) :
This mac is so much better then old HP computer. I wanted a good computer for college and to do some light gaming and this one is perfect. So far I have played Company of Heroes and it did great, no lag what so ever, great mac for gaming with the new intel 5000. Every thing else about this computer has exceeded my expectations, its light, fast, small, easy to type on with the tear drop design and it runs cool. If you want a computer that can do it all at a good price then this is it.

Unclespoon (Haymarket, VA) :
This is by far the best laptop I've ever owned. A 2.7GHz quad-core processor, 16GB RAM and (I opted cheap) 256GB flash storage makes for the fastest, smoothest computing experience I've ever seen! The design is superb, materials are by far the best in any computer, and the overall package blew me away. I've had powerbooks and macbook pros, but this is a whole new level. I love all the trackpad gestures, it makes operating the laptop very intuitive and easy. The display is incredible - I can't wait to get photoshop and final cut up and running! No, it doesn't come with a CD/DVD drive and I'm glad it doesn't! Besides, you can get a usb one for pennies on the dollar now if you really need to have a physical disc (I have one lying around that I haven't used in ages). Yes, it's expensive, but I honestly don't foresee ever having to buy another laptop! I'm sure at some point I'll replace the flash memory, but maybe 6-7 years down the road, and 16GB RAM will hold me over forever!

MpNc_Amaz0n "KinDn4sS" (Chandler, AZ) :
This is just inexplicable how great this machine functions. Thank you Apple for a such product. I spent thousands dollars on it, but man - I wish I knew before of this great quality product. Everything's so smooth. 512SSD, 16GB RAM, 2.7GHz iCore 7, oh my... Everything's so smooth. Thank you, Apple! Thank you, Amazon!!!

Rick J. (Phoenix, AZ) :
We have bought several new laptops latey and the staff love their new Macs. The laptop is very powerful and great for our web design staff. Excellent buy & cheaper then from Apple directly.

Garageband unusable with real instruments unless other cable/adapters are bought. apple cuts features but keeps price high. been buying macs for 20 years but this is last mac i'll order. steer clear of these gaudy gadgets!

Gorman (Idaho, USA) :
It was time to replace my 8 year old laptop and I decided to get a "fancy" Mac Book Pro. You get what you pay for, right? WRONG! If you like your Windows 7, Vista or even XP, just stick with it. Any of those are way simpler to use than Apple's Mountain Lion operating system. Mac is complicated and frustrating at moments. I watched tutorials and that helped somewhat but not enough. I'm a small business owner and a productivity aspect is very important to me. Windows operating system is a superior product by far. It's actually very obvious. Just look at a market share between the two concepts. I should have known better. I hope you don't make the same mistake...

S. Howze (AK) :
Get a chromebook. the macbook has a nice keyboard and monitor, but otherwise i hate it. these machines are for geeks. its so complicated that you need to take a 7 day course just to use it. i find it to be a nonstop hassle

Kevin Grandon (SAN FRANCISCO, CA, US) :
A nice and lightweight laptop for checking email on the couch, but unfortunately not much more than that.
My biggest gripe with this is that there's two USB ports, but they both go to the same internal USB host controller. This means you can probably ever only hook up a single high-bandwidth device at any one time - as you're really getting one usb port with a hub instead of two ports.
It's extremely disappointing and deceptive that they would do this, as almost any laptop I've seen with two USB ports has two USB host controllers. Also it seems no one at the apple store knows the details of these systems, and they don't have specs for these in-store.

If you are purchasing an Apple computer for ease of use and a super user-friendly GUI, go ahead and push "BUY IT NOW". But if you are migrating over to Apple to take advantage of the apparent bargains to be found in the professional software arena (Music Production, Video Production, Graphic Arts, etc.) I am issuing a warning that Apple is lying to you. Apple has implemented an aberrant pricing policy that varies widely from the industry standard pricing policy for professional software. Apple, in true corporate fashion, has made this change without warning or notice. The new policy is NO PATH TO UPGRADE. You heard me right. If you pay professional software prices for a piece of Apple software, and two months later they release the new and improved package, you will be stuck paying full price for the upgrade. Do you feel like you got a deal now? You have now paid more for your software than if you had gone with the industry leading software package (PreSONUS, Adobe Premiere, CorelDraw, etc.) and next update, you will be well behind the pricing curve. I do not have a problem with Apple software, but rather the sneaky way in which they implemented the pricing policy. If you are buying Apple to take advantage of these apparent deals...save your money and stick with a PC. You will pay more initially for your software, but within a year you will be saving money.
